McCall's 6796 November Garment of the Month

I have been on a "staycation" and got quite a few things sewn, including my originally plan garment of the month.  I used fabric that was about a year old and purchased from EmmaOneSock.  Because of the design of the fabric, I used a single layer layout for cutting out the front and back.

I was happy that my pattern layout worked and have side seams align with the pattern design.  I chose to put the floral part of the fabric at the bottom with the intent of having less side seam alignment .
Here is a shot of the side seam when I was in the work in progress phase.
And here is the final garment on a hanger.  I am not photo ready this morning to take final shots of the finished garment.

Next up????????- something a little more challenging that the recent tops I made which you can read about here.

MC 5989 November Edition 11.26.2014

This was a very simple garment to make
took me 3 hours total.I love the length. Nothing I enjoy more than extra long pants..My grey and white bootie-socks are amazing.

Not sure If I will keep the pants though or trash them. I accidentally serged through them and created 2 holes.

.

I was supposed to make this in an african print but did not want to spare any and I am happy that I did not.

Errors :I managed to serge holes in my pants..Only 2 holes one in the front and one in the lower back :/

The not too pricey November outfit

Hello !

I've just finished my outfit for the month.
The top is made of the fabric coming from a big skirt (forgot to take a "before" picture).
The skirt comes from a dress (that I bought 15 years ago.).
I lined it with a recycled bedsheet.
I bought a brand-new zipper though !
Both patterns are Lutterloh's.
I think the skirt will be very useful since I'll be able to wear it with most of my printed tops.

Happy sewing to everyone !

Karine

November Challenge Done and Dusted!

Go me... this was actually finished about 10 days ago! But in typical Dawn-style, it took ages to get around to doing the photos! I confess I kind of rushed to get this finished as we are away on holiday atm, and I so wanted to get it done in time so I could bring it with me.

This is McCalls 7026 View C but without the shaped hem at the back. I sort of cut it off on the pattern by mistake.... oopps! You can read more about this top and see photos of the matching skirt that I also made, on My Blog HERE

Happy Sewing Everyone and Happy Thanksgiving to all our American MAGAM Bloggers :)

December's theme.

Hello everyone,

I know most of us are finishing our November garments - or haven't yet started -or won't be making one at all -  but I thought I should get December's theme up early.  Most people get busy with Thanksgiving in America, and Christmas elsewhere.  So I thought I would give you all advance notice so you could fit this theme into your sewing timeline.

Of course, as always, you can always make something else that you want or need to make.

I'll be away for a few days soon, so will be updating the November Gallery when I get back.

Happy sewing everyone,

Sarah Liz

BurdaStyle Jacket In Progress

Hello..
I am making a black jacket for my November MAGAM. For the pattern, I am using  BurdaStyle Jacket 09/2014 size 36 and for the fabrics, I am using 2 yards of linen in black color and 2 yards of gingham check fabric (poly-cotton blend) for the lining. Both of the fabrics are from stash.

And here is a picture of my sewing in progress that I posted in My Facebook Page
Happy sewing to you all!

Lovenickky's Nov project is done! Butterick 5247 sweater dress

My MAGAM November project is done! Yay! I used the tried and true Butterick 5147 knit dress pattern and made this Festive Sweater Dress really quickly.

I was too lazy to put on leggings for this photo but will definitely be wearing leggings/jeggings with this dress/tunic.
My review on PatternReview.com is here. You can also see more about this project on My Blog.

November PR makes

On Pattern Review is a surprise sewing bee challenge and I can show you my entries for Round 1 and Round 2.

Round 1: A-line skirt challenge
Over 300 people signed up and over 140 people entered
51 people went through to Round 2.

Round 2: Reuse men's business shirts

The creativity aspect of this challenge ended up my making two pieces (three if you count the wristlets)  that were Steampunk inspired.

Here's a link to Round 2 gallery.

Round 3:?
21 people are now through to Round 3. I made the cut so I'm waiting to find out what sewing mischief I'll be in for the next 5 days.

Lovenicky's November Project Plan - A Festive Sweater Dress

Another Sweater Dress for me for the cooler months! This time I'm using a Stash Pattern and stash fabrics:

I'm choosing Butterick 5247 because it's a tried and true pattern for me. I have this gorgeous burgundy wool blend sweater knit in my stash for a while. I think it will be perfect for a sweater dress. It's a nice, festive colour that I can easily wear for the holidays too!

Finished October Outfit

Hello ladies,
I was so busy with some stuff that distracted me for making plans for my October garment. So, I decided to make an easy and quick outfit that I already work with it before. And luckily I completed it just before the end of the month but to publish it here took me more time :)

For the top pattern, I used New Look 6225 view B size 34 and for the skirt pattern, I used BurdaStyle Skirt 08/2012 size 36.
For the fabrics, I used 1.5 yards of printed chiffon and 1.5 yards of linen in black color.

More details of this outfit blogged here, Velvet Ribbon - Finished October Outfit

November/December MAGAM

Hello Ladies,

I would like to request a temporary hiatus from the MAGAM until the first of the year.  I have a lined Robson coat and a vintage shirtwaist to sew over the next two months; however, I think it cheating to use one garment for more than one challenge or sew-a-long.  Due to limited finances I am unable to purchase fabric for multiple projects at this time.  If possible please hold my spot, so-to-speak.  I'll surely be watching your lovely garments over these next two months.

I thank you for your consideration and indulgence in this matter.

Cheers,

Lyric

October make finally completed

Better late than never here is my October make, dress pattern McCalls 5706.

There are more details and pics on my blog tracysewshappy.

Happy sewing

November plans. October? To be continued!

This picture tells it all: in November I will make a lined Dahlia dress in a blue and burgundy plaid. I'll start with a muslin first as I've seen quite some fitting issues on the internet, especially with neckline and sleeves of this pattern.

In case you're wondering what happened to my October plans, well, my French jacket will need some extra months of serious sewing! I did write a series of posts about design choices, thread tracing, quilting and constructing techniques in case you're interested in making a couture cardigan jacket.

The hairy mess will now go into hibernation till February!

October project is finally done!

Vogue 1331 is all finished - and only a few days late!  Time to take a rest now....

More details and pics on my blog.

Until next time - Happy Sewing everyone!

November outfit

Hello !

This is what I'm working on : a little top (the one on the right) with lots of flowers, and an A-line skirt to go with.
Both are Lutterloh patterns from the 70s.
Both fabrics are recycled : the black one was a 6 panels skirt, probably from the 70s too. The beige one was a dress.
I've already made several A-line skirts (Amy Butler's pattern), but I want to have a go at this one.
I'm hopeless to follow the month theme. But, for December, I'll make the little Christmas dress for sure !
Happy sewing,

Karine

Slip into something more comfortable > November Nights

New Look 6072 . Deviating from flannel. I might even wear it out.
Dug down deep into the stash to come up with this.
I'm having a good laugh because I have zero recollection of this camel piece.

October T Shirt MAGAM

Late - but still in the game. My fire opal knock off T shirt is done.
I added a few more bits of foil on the front where I thought it would be needed.maureenclayton.blogspot.ca

I made these three garments in October and have only just taken the pictures. More info will be found on my blog

October and late!

Due to my Mother's passing I have been out of the sewing room. Instead I've been lying on the couch- eating, watching TV, crying and sleeping. Then it occurred to me my mom would not want me to waste my abilities and my sewing passion. She would tell me to go put some lipstick on, and fix yourself up - you'll feel better! So here I am...without the lipstick.
I realized I just missed October by a few days, so I thought I'd play catchup from there. With the theme being " sew and shine" I thought I would use a foiling technique on a black knit to give it a fire opal shine, then turn it into a t- shirt.

This is the t shirt I'm knocking off. More details on my blog.

October Opal

Hello everyone!

I have fallen behind in my posting, ...so for my October project I'm going to post another oldie but goodie McCalls 6844 cardi that I completed.  The color of the fabric has the green that can be found in the opal sometime.  This fabric I just fell in love with when I first say it, so soft and the texture.

For those of you who are familiar with McCalls 6844 you can probably picture the cardi made out of this fabric.  If you want to see the actual cardi, please skip over to my blog : http://rememberingoz.blogspot.com

On to Nov...can't wait to see what everyone is going to make.

Regards,
Diane
